Location: Mobile covering client sites in London, Gosport, Maidenhead, Leicester, Nottingham, Manchester, North Wales, York and Glasgow. Predominantly based in Manchester
Salary: £60,000 per annum + £405pm Car Allowance
Working hours: 0800 - 1700 Monday to Friday

Role overview:
To implement a safe and healthy working operations environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors within the facilities owned, leased, occupied or managed by the Client. The Health & Safety Manager will develop, implement, and embedded health and safety policies, processes, safe systems of work, programs, and training.
What you’ll do:
- To Coordinate and manage the HSQ&E function throughout the Capital Project department.
- Working in close liaison with our IMS documentation, in line with the demands of our working environments and the clients own SHE policies & contract responsibilities.
- Act as the Health Safety & Environment representative to ensure that all technical and operational elements of EMCOR UK contract business meet with high standards of HSE at all times.
- To support and execute HSE Department objectives and in line with EMCOR and Client objectives.
- To support and execute HSE training throughout the contract locations in line with EMCOR UK standard operating procedures and training packages.
- Support and assist the auditing and monitoring regimes associated with the EMCOR UK Safe Systems of Work and client requirements on high-risk systems including producing annual audit programmes within the Project department.
- Carry out planned and spot audits of all site projects, monitor, correct and maintain high levels of Health & safety, Environmental and Quality Awareness and conformity.
- Ensure that the client systems / EMCOR UK contract is kept up to date and aware of new legislation regarding Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental issues.
- Additional AD-HOC duties may be required
- Development of Interface meetings and strategies with the client to share experience and develop improvement initiatives in HSE activities.
- Ensure that all systems and procedures meet the requirements of the client regulated environment.
- Support the development the EMCOR Management System in line with ISO 14001, 9001 & 45001 to achieve certification for site.
- Work closely with other members of the account management team to deliver on collective business plans
- Develop, review, and update health and safety policies to meet the Statutory Compliance requirements in the UK, Health & Safety Executive legislation, Management of Operational Risk (Risk Assessments etc) and Best Practice for a Facilities Operation (Data Centres) and Occupiers (Corporate Offices).
- Ensure all policies align with UK best practices and Client organisational goals.
- Implement a Risk Management & Assessment Regime for the facilities
- Conduct safety audits and take ownership for the follow up of the findings and resolutions.
- Establish H&S Site Safety Files
- Provide / Implement training using Client training systems. Content to be developed / provided and uploaded and training scheduled accordingly.
- Review the client's current incident reporting method for the reporting, categorisation and tracking of H&S related incidents. Ensure reporting method enables measurement against industry benchmark standards.
- Ensure that a process for incident investigations exists, and templates. Where missing or inadequate then improve them.
- Implement a full compliance tracking program that provides summary and detailed compliance mapping for all sites. This to be established as part of the site audits so the sites are properly mapped based on the sites, services & Client responsibilities.
- Introduce and implement filing structures on each site aligned to standard folder s
- Review / Develop emergency response plans and implement best drills program.
- Prepare a standard pre-formatted H&S report that should be maintained by the site teams that rolls up into management reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate health and safety practices into daily operations.
- Recommend improvements / platforms that are aligned to industry trends, best practices, and emerging legislation related to health and safety.
Who you’ll be:
- Needs to be agile and a practitioner of health & safety. Someone that can develop solutions and apply themselves to producing what’s need working in conjunction with the Client's Senior Management.
- Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in health and safety management within technical environments.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Graduate level candidate with extensive experience in H&S management Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or NVQ equivalent.
- Knowledge of ISO systems and their implementation
- Detailed understanding of legislation and industry standards and their practical application, as well as a working knowledge of other HSE issues.
- Auditor trained.
- Have good people management, leadership, decision-making and communications skills.
- Experience in line management responsibilities
- To be able to work on own initiative and be self-motivated.
- Good communicator and ability to liaise with the Customer on a Daily Basis
- Be resilient under pressure and be able to converse confidentially with staff, suppliers and customers at all levels.
- Post holder will be working with Directors, Senior Managers, external suppliers and Operating Managers across the contract and as such the post holder will require a level of “gravitas” as well as having the ability to influence others.
